At a Glance
This is a fun diversion and a change of scenery from the other restaurants on Universal property. Though dinner is a bit expensive, it’s the best food of any luau show in the area. Premium Seating gets you a souvenir tiki mug and a reserved table near the middle of the room for an extra fee, while Priority Seating guarantees seats up front. The check-in process can take a while, so send the rest of your party to watch the preshow on the nearby lawn while one member waits in line, but be sure to line up by the open-air venue’s entrance before seating starts to get first crack at the buffet. The culinary star of the show is the roast pork, and the seared ahi tuna salad and cedar-plank roasted salmon are also excellent, but the bottomless mai tais are overpoweringly sweet. Food (with musical accompaniment) is served until 7:15 p.m., with the main show cranking up at 7. The hour-long entertainment features grass-skirted dancers paying tribute to the traditions of Hawaiian, Maori, and Tahitian cultures, climaxing in a dazzling display of fire twirling.
